X-Men TV could still be a thing that is happening.
“[For] X-Men, we’re in negotiations with Marvel. We’re hopeful we’ll be able to announce something soon. We’re not closed on a deal yet but it’s something we’re definitely pursuing,” THR reported Fox Television Group chairman and CEO Dana Walden as saying at the TCA press tour this morning, in what we believe was the scrum after the panel.
News broke a few months ago about a possible X-Men live-action TV series for FOX by writers from Star Trek 3 and 24. Of course, due to the nature of the X-Men rights, the deal would be structured differently from, say, how things work with the Disney-owned ABC and its deals with S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter.
“The characters from the X-Men franchise are with Fox on the feature side so we won’t be including Marvel characters that are at ABC with Disney,” Walden said. “This will be exclusively the franchise as it has existed at Fox.” TV Line adds that Walden qualified that it is in development as a “long-running series” rather than a limited one.
