The second day of the ABC portion of the TCA Press Tour includes Blood & Oil and ABC Family shows Startup U and Kevin (From Work).
Blood & Oil
“Sometimes you have to be dirty to get filthy rich.” The new “boom town” drama involves blood and oil and stars Don Johnson (Miami Vice), Chace Crawford (Gossip Girl), and Rebecca Rittenhouse (Red Band Society). The notion that they were doing a show that would be set in North Dakota was exciting to them. The show focuses on a young couple who moves to North Dakota at the time of a great oil boom, and premieres September 27 on ABC.
Christmas Coffee Break
ABC celebrated the 50th anniversary of A Charlie Brown Christmas with executive producer Lee Mendelson, pianist David Benoit, and photo opportunities with Snoopy. ABC will have a special “It’s Your 50th Christmas, Charlie Brown” later this year.
Kevin (From Work)
Kevin (From Work) is a single-camera workplace comedy that will air on ABC Family. The series premieres on Wednesday, August 12 at 8PM ET, and the show stars Noah Reid, Jordan Hinson, Matt Murray, and Paige Spara.
Startup U
Premiering August 11, Startup U focuses on ten savvy, creative and ambitious young adults get down to business and experience seven weeks of hard truths, tough lessons and plenty of drama as they are put to the test at Draper University in Silicon Valley. Led by billionaire founder and venture capitalist Tim Draper, students learn the fundamentals of launching a startup company under the mentorship of America’s business leaders. In the end, they pitch their ideas to a panel of hungry venture capitalists with the hope that they’ll win a life-changing investment to launch their business. To date, more than 150 Draper graduates have received funding totaling more than $15 million from mogul investors and Tim Draper himself. Brimming with innovation and sheer willpower, the series exposes what it takes to achieve success in the most pioneering and competitive marketplace in the world.
Draper was joined by Executive Producers Tim and Mike Duffy on stage, with program director Charlie Taibi and “entrepreneur in residence” Sequoia Blodgett.
