The live-action adventures of Christian Walker will continue, as the PlayStation Original Series Powers has been renewed for a second season.

Powers, based on the series of graphic novels created by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming, recently concluded a ten-episode first season that was distributed through the PlayStation Network.

Culver City, CA – May 6, 2015 — Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCE) announced today that the PlayStation Original series Powers, produced by Sony Pictures Television, will continue with a second season of the series slated for release in the US in 2016.

“The reception to Powers has been incredible and we are thrilled to have successfully launched a platform for original content with the PlayStation gamer in mind,” said John Koller, Vice President of Platforms Marketing, Sony Computer Entertainment America. “We believe original content will continue to be a key pillar as we broaden the value proposition for PlayStation Plus, and we’re excited for what’s to come with season two of Powers.”

“We are so grateful to the PlayStation nation and fans of Powers for supporting us and making the second season a reality,” said Powers co-creator and Executive Producer, Brian Michael Bendis. “I speak for the entire cast & crew when I say that we are really excited about season two and the opportunity to tell the story of the biggest case in Powers history.”

“We are proud to continue our collaboration with the PlayStation team to bring premium original programming to PlayStation Network,” said Zack Van Amburg, President, Programming and Development, Sony Pictures Television.

Jamie Erlicht, President, Programming and Development, Sony Pictures Television adds “There is a lot to look forward to in season two for both new and existing fans of the series, as we broaden the Powers universe and bring even more of the fan-favorite characters and storylines to life.”

Setting records as the most-watched series premiere on PlayStation® Network, fans of the series embraced each episode of Powers, making the show a hit and bringing a new viewing audience to the PlayStation ecosystem. The entire first season of Powers is currently available on PlayStation Network via PlayStation®Store at PlayStation.com. Powers is currently free to all PlayStation Plus subscribers.

Inspired by the graphic novels of the same name, Powers, an edgy, dramatic series, follows the lives of two homicide detectives, Christian Walker and Deena Pilgrim. Walker and Pilgrim are assigned to investigate cases involving people with extraordinary abilities, referred to as “Powers.” Season two will continue to follow the detectives and the Powers Division team as they go up against commercialized, superhumans who impose their power on the public, which both worships and fears them.

Powers is produced Jinxworld and Circle of Confusion in associations with Sony Pictures Television. Charlie Huston, Remi Aubuchon, Brian Michael Bendis, Michael Avon Oeming, David Engel, Lawrence Mattis, David Alpert and Frank Frattaroli serve as executive producers.
