Maureen Ryan at the Chicago Tribune has gotten confirmation that Supernatural‘s Eric Kripke will still be on for Supernatural‘s sixth season, which was just announced by the CW network.
Additionally, she spoke to Supernatural executive producer Sera Gamble to calm worries that next season will be “The Apocalypse 2: The Squeakuel.”
Here’s her response:
“No, you will not be getting Apocalypse, The Squeaquel in Season 6 (that’s hilarious),” Gamble told Ms. Ryan. “We’re climaxing that story this season. We’ve been working on the Season 6 storyline for quite some time, and we’re very excited about it. We have lots of ideas, and are grateful for the chance to keep the show going. Please tell the fans that the writers say thank you! We so appreciate the support.”

UPDATE: Although Kripke will remain involved, he will no longer be the series’ showrunner. See this post for more information.
