Variety is reporting that You’re the Worst alum Kether Donohue and Sara Rue (Less Than Perfect) have joined CBS multi-cam pilot B Positive.
From Marco Pennette (Ugly Betty), with Chuck Lorre executive producing, B Positive centers on newly divorced dad Drew as he’s faced with the race against time to find a kidney donor. Feeling increasingly hopeless, he runs into rough-around-the-edges Gina (Annaleigh Ashford), a woman from his past who volunteers their own. If ordered, the series would follow Drew and Gina as they form an unlikely bond that will change their lives.
Donohue will play 30-something party girl Leanne, who does her best to live for today and have a good time. She works as an assistant manager at a retail clothing store, a jewelry designer, and a bartender.
Rue will portray Julia, an ambitious real estate agent whose affair ended her marriage to Drew. She currently tolerates his idiosyncrasies while dreaming of living in the type of homes she sells every day.
B Positive is one of several comedies in development at CBS for 2020-21, joining Ghosts, based on the British series of the same name; Jury Duty, which follows the same jury across one trial; foster kid multi-cam Please Hold for Frankie Wolfe; sibling series The Three of Us; The United States of Al, centering on the friendship between a Marine and his interpreter; and an untitled mother/daughter comedy from Corinne Kingsbury.
In addition to her role on the FXX comedy, Donohue’s television credits include You, LA to Vegas, and Champions, while Rue has appeared on the likes of Impastor, American Housewife, and The Rookie.
