Once Upon a Time alum Ginnifer Goodwin has booked a series regular role on upcoming CBS All Access dramedy Why Women Kill. She’ll be playing ideal ’60s housewife Beth Ann, a woman whose kindness and warmth is a mask for how unfulfilled she is by life. Dedicated solely to her husband Rob, Beth Ann goes on the defensive when learning of his affair and soon gets a much needed change in perspective.
From Marc Cherry (Devious Maids), Why Women Kill centers on the lives of three women living in three different decades: a housewife in the ’60s, a socialite in the ’80s, and a lawyer in 2018, each dealing with infidelity in their marriages. The series will chronicle that while the roles of women in society have changed over the years, their reaction to being betrayed has not.
In addition to her role on the ABC fantasy drama, Goodwin’s television credits include Big Love, Ed, and Electric City. She’s the second main cast member tagged by CBS All Access following Lucy Liu’s casting earlier this month.
Why Women Kill is part of a scripted slate for CBS All Access that includes The Good Fight, Star Trek: Discovery, and Strange Angel. It’s one of several new series that the streamer will be debuting this year, including Jordan Peele’s take on The Twilight Zone, which Goodwin will guest star on, and Star Trek spinoff Picard.
