The CW has officially placed a series order for Black Lightning, the latest addition to their growing roster of DC Comics superhero shows.
The series is executive produced and directed by Salim Akil (The Game) with fellow Executive Producers Mara Brock Akil, Greg Berlanti, and Sarah Schechter. Here’s how the network describes it:
Based on the DC character created by Tony Isabella with Trevor Von Eeden, Black Lightning centers on Jefferson Pierce. He made his choice: He hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter, Jennifer hellbent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend Black Lightning. Cress Williams, Nefessa Williams, China Anne McClain and Christine Adams star.

Does this mean we are getting a 5 part 5 way crossover this year? That would be amazingly epic. They have already said they will be better able to integrate Supergirl in the future so hopefully it is set up where BL is part of the same universe and can be part of the team.
