At the conclusion of the Riverdale episode “To Riverdale and Back Again,” Betty learned that her friends Archie and Veronica were recruited by her mother to snoop in the trailer of Jughead’s father, F.P.. This event happened around the same time as a really awkward dinner that was arranged by Alice Cooper’s schemes.
At the recent PaleyLive event at the Paley Center for Media in Beverly Hills, California, we asked Riverdale star Lili Reinhart if Betty might be embarrassed by her mom’s behavior in the episode.
“I think Betty’s kind of past the point of being embarrassed,” Lili said. “I think she doesn’t have time to be embarrassed. I think she is immediately in recovery mode, and she’s like ‘I can’t lose him! I didn’t want this! I don’t want this to be what takes us down.’ I think it just motivates her even further to solve the mystery and get F.P. out of jail, and prove her mother wrong, and prove Archie and Veronica wrong.”
“She doesn’t even have time to hold a grudge against them,” Reinhart continued. “She’s honestly just on a roll. I think she’s on fire. She has this revamped motivation to make things right, for the sake of her relationship, and fixing what her mom did, ALICE!”
