Despite some initial tension between them, Ezra and Richard have settled into a fairly decent working relationship. There are still lingering personality conflicts to deal with, as Ezra’s sensitivity and passivity often clash with Richard’s arrogance and bullheadedness, but they’re working together for a common goal and each realizes the importance that finding Maddie/Ava/Alice(/Saffron) has to the other, so they’re mostly able to get over it. What matters is getting answers about the cons that were pulled on them and bringing their former wife (wives?) to justice, no matter what it takes. They’re not about to let anything or anyone get in the way of their pursuit of closure, but what happens when someone wants to join their group who might actually have answers that can help them?
On the next episode of Imposters, Ezra and Richard are left reeling upon discovering Jules, the wife that Maddie had before either of them. Not only are they surprised that the information they paid for was faulty, with the facial recognition software pinning Maddie somewhere she ultimately wasn’t, they’re slowly beginning to realize how deep this woman’s criminality extends; Maddie isn’t some small-time con woman who bilked over a couple of good-looking dudes so that she could skip town and lay on the beach sipping Mai Tais for the rest of her life. She’s got an extensive (and immaculate) record of conning, meaning that this isn’t someone they’re going to be able to quickly outsmart, not without more information to go on and a better constructed plan. So while Ezra and (particularly) Richard might not want to bring Jules into the fold, they could very well end up needing her perspective on (and experience with) Maddie if they have any hope at bringing their wife (wives?) down for good.
