ABC has released the official trailer for upcoming comedy Downward Dog and in it, we see that man’s best friend also has a thing for the ladies.
From Michael Killen (Fursonas) and Samm Hodges (Footnote), Downward Dog follows Nan (Allison Tolman) and her lonely, controlling dog Martin as they grapple with life, love, and everything in between. Feeling neglected by Nan after she struggles with a breakup with her musician ex-boyfriend, Martin desperately tries to send the message to his owner that he needs her attention again and that he misses all the things they used to do together. Ever since the breakup, Nan’s been throwing herself into work in order to impress her boss, so Martin devises a plan to act out and tie up more of Nan’s free time in obedience school training. Could having this structured time together make Nan realize that she hadn’t been the best pet owner recently? Is this what she needed in order to refocus her priorities and bond with the one source of unconditional love in her life?
In addition to Tolman, Downward Dog stars Lucas Neff (Raising Hope), Kirby Howell-Baptiste (Love), and Barry Rothbart (The Wolf of Wall Street).
Downward Dog is set to air midseason. You can check out ABC’s 2016-2017 schedule here.
