Continuing his plan to accumulate all the money in the world, NBC super producer Dick Wolf has supplied the network with a fourth leg on its behemoth Chicago franchise. Joining Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, and Chicago Med is legal drama Chicago Justice, whose backdoor pilot aired last night to solid ratings. Given the success of the franchise, the series had been one of NBC’s development frontrunners, so a series order for Justice was seen as nothing more than a formality.
This time, the Chicago-verse keys in on the Chicago State’s Attorney’s team of prosecutors and investigators as they navigate heated city politics and controversy head-on while pursuing justice as they see fit. The cast is led by Philip Winchester (Strike Back) as Assistant State Attorney Peter Stone, the same man who sent Voight (Chicago PD‘s Jason Beghe) to jail.
In addition to Winchester, Chicago Justice stars Carl Weathers (Predator), Nazneen Contractor (Covert Affairs), Joelle Carter (Justified), and Ryan-James Hatanaka (Eye Candy). The series is one of several new series already picked up by NBC, joining a lineup that includes a prequel to the Taken movie series; Oz take Emerald City; Dan Fogelman birthday dramedy This Is Us; DC Comics comedy Powerless; and true crime spoof Trial & Error.
NBC will be the first network to unveil their schedule for next season, as they’re set to release their plans for 2016-2017 on Sunday, May 15th. You can check out what KSiteTV thought NBC could do next season here.
