When I began to write this article about the April 22 episode of The CW’s 90210, I admit that I was completely prepared to mock the show’s habit of getting celebrities that haven’t been all that famous since the 1990’s onto the show playing themselves, even though the series’ audience and characters should be too young to remember who they even are.
This temptation came when I saw that Robin Givens of Head Of The Class and Mike Tyson fame would be appearing in the April 22 show, which is called “The Empire State Strikes Back.”
Robbie Jones (Hellcats) and KeKe Palmer (she guest starred on Degrassi!) also appear.
Thankfully, it appears Givens isn’t playing herself after all, and that is actually… kind of cool. Nice to see an old favorite back on TV. Well played, 90210. Though if we get a M.C. Hammer/Vanilla Ice double-bill concert between now and the series finale, I’m going right back to mocking you.
