FURTHER THOUGHTS FROM CRAIG

Most Surprising (Possible) Renewal: At this point, the most bubbliest stuff has already been decided on, but at least at the time of this writing, one has not: Lethal Weapon. So much behind-the-scenes drama, Warner Bros. owns it…. I could see them shopping it elsewhere or shooting a Season 4 for the WarnerMedia streaming service, but I think it’s pretty done, though it would be wise for “New FOX” to play nice.

Show That Likely Won’t Be Renewed But Should Be: Star.

Possible Scheduling Disaster: FOX really has things planned out for the Fall, and I assume that when things like Football are through, reality will settle in. I guess the only possible disaster would be if people don’t take to the new programming, but I think they’ll be fine.

Possible Biggest Surprise: The biggest surprise, I think, has already been averted, and that would have been if ABC had taken Last Man Standing back. FOX is keeping it. I guess my big surprise would be if they don’t put it on Tuesday nights… though in a way, putting it in a Sunday lineup as Married With Children had been in FOX’s glory days would be pretty cool.

Safest Bet: Football and Smackdown will do just fine. I think “Last Man Standing on Tuesdays” would be a pretty safe bet, too.

Project I’m Rooting For: Filthy Rich. Bring on the primetime soapy trash! Casey Cott’s brother is in this one, too!

The One That Will [Probably] Get Away: Deputy. I think it sounds cool but NOT being owned by FOX or whatever their home studio is called now… I’m not sure. It’s on my schedule, though.

What FOX Needs: They need to re-embrace the “edgy” brand they had decades ago, and when they do, everyone will forget all that’s changed — or, at least, they’ll see the changes as positive.
