Showtime has announced that Emmy winner Bryan Cranston will star in legal thriller Your Honor, set to premiere in 2020.

“Peter, Michelle and Robert have crafted an original thriller with gut-wrenching suspense, raw emotion and moral complexity,” Showtime entertainment president Gary Levine said. “And we are simply ecstatic that Bryan Cranston, one of the planet’s finest actors, shares our enthusiasm and has agreed to play the lead. I can’t wait to shoot Your Honor and show it to the world!”

From Robert and Michelle King (The Good Wife), with Peter Moffat (Criminal Justice) showrunning, Your Honor follows the son of a New Orleans judge (Cranston) who is involved in a hit-and-run where the victim was the son of a local crime boss.

This is Cranston’s first lead television role since his acclaimed turn on AMC crime drama Breaking Bad. He’s since appeared on the likes of Sneaky Pete, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Electric Dreams.

Your Honor joins a scripted slate for Showtime that includes Kidding, Ray Donovan, and Shameless, with Homeland and The Affair set to wrap their runs later this year.
