Deadline is reporting that upcoming Paramount drama Yellowstone has added Red Band Society alum Dave Annable and Gil Birmingham (Twilight) in series regular roles. Annable will be playing Lee, a cowboy who serves as his father’s right hand man, while Birmingham will be playing steely Thomas Rainwater, Chief of an Indian Nation.
From Taylor Sheridan (Hell or High Water), Yellowstone tells the story of the Duttons, a Montana family who controls the largest contiguous ranch in the United States. Fronted by gruff patriarch John (Kevin Costner), the family is forced to defend their land from all comers while dealing with the strained personal relationships that resulted from their high profile.
In addition to his role on the FOX dramedy, Annable has appeared on the likes of Brothers & Sisters, Heartbeat, and 666 Park Avenue, while Birmingham’s television credits include Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Banshee, and House of Cards. They join a cast that includes Wes Bentley (American Horror Story), Kelly Reilly (True Detective), and recently added Wendy Moniz (Kingdom), who is set as Governor Lynelle Perry, a determined woman who wants one of the Duttons to go into politics.
The first original drama developed for the coming Spike reboot, Yellowstone will be part of a slate of originals that includes comedies Heathers and American Woman, as well as limited series Waco.
