Syfy announced that demon hunter drama Wynonna Earp has been renewed for a third season during the show’s Comic-Con panel on Saturday. There’s been no word yet as to how many episodes season three will consist of, though considering the fairly early renewal, the minimum would be the 12 episodes the show received for this season.
Based on the comic series from Beau Smith and developed for television by Emily Andras (Lost Girl), Wynonna Earp follows the title character (Melanie Scrofano), the great-great-granddaughter of legendary outlaw Wyatt Earp who is tasked with destroying the supernatural beings that encase the Ghost River Triangle. With trusty revolver Peacemaker and a ragtag group of misfits at her side, Wynonna heads into battle every day of her life, all for the good of her hometown of Purgatory.
Currently averaging a 0.12 in the 18-49 demo, a shade below the 0.13 it received for its first season, Wynonna Earp becomes the first Syfy summer drama to have its fate decided. The series, a primary beneficiary of Syfy’s recent rebrand toward shows with voracious online fan bases, stars Shamier Anderson, Tim Rozon, Dominique Provost-Chalkley, and Katherine Barrell.
The third season of Wynonna Earp is set to premiere sometime in 2018 on Syfy.
