While Naomi might get a chance to fly on The CW in the next TV season, the network’s Wonder Girl adaptation isn’t going to be so lucky, as they have passed on making a pilot this year. The series would have focused on the Yara Flor character from the recent DC Future State event, who will soon have her own comic book series from DC.
Dailyn Rodriguez, who was developing the project for the network, confirmed the news on Twitter today.
“So some sad news. For all of those asking, Wonder Girl is not getting picked up at the CW. I was very proud of the script I wrote. Wish I could’ve shared the world I created, but unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be. Thanks for everyone’s enthusiasm. It meant a lot to me,” she shared.
There was a lot of excitement among fans for this Wonder Girl project and we an hope that the vision of Dailyn Rodriguez for the character can be revisited in the future. Certainly, the number of already-renewed CW shows for 2021-2022 as well as the still high number of DC projects surely had something to do with the decision.
