HBO’s project based on DC Comics’ Watchmen has been picked up to series.
The original Watchmen comic book series by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons was considered one of the most groundbreaking series at all time, deconstructing the superhero genre; this new Watchmen will pick up at a different time, and be helmed by a master of deconstruction himself, LOST’s Damon Lindelof. Rather than retelling the story that was told in the original comics and in the Zack Snyder-helmed movie of a decade ago, the Watchmen series “embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own.”
Social media from HBO implies that the series will premiere in 2019. The cast of HBO’s Watchmen series includes Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Adelaide Clemens, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, Lily Rose Smith and Adelynn Spoon; they have been extremely secretive about who these characters will be. As seen above, a tagline for the series is “Nothing Ever Ends…”
Hmm. Stay tuned for more information as it may become available.
