Deadline is reporting that Rookie Blue alum Missy Peregrym has joined the upcoming second season of Syfy drama Van Helsing. She’ll be playing mysterious Scarlett Harker, an important weapon in the ongoing fight against the vampires.
“We are excited and privileged that Missy is now part of our extraordinary ensemble,” said Chris Regina, Senior Vice President, Original Co-Productions, Syfy. “We look forward to having our Van Helsing mythology strengthened by her energy, charisma, and talent.”
From Neil LaBute (In the Company of Men), Van Helsing follows Vanessa Van Helsing (Kelly Overton), distant relative of vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing, as she awakens from a years-long coma and finds herself in the middle of a vampire apocalypse. Not only must Vanessa find her daughter, who went missing just as the initial vampire attacks were intensifying, she has to use the unusual powers she woke up with to help defeat the vampires once and for all.
In addition to her role on the Global/ABC cop drama, Peregrym has appeared on the likes of Motive, Hawaii Five-0, and Reaper. She joins a cast that includes Christopher Heyerdahl (Hell on Wheels), Jonathan Scarfe (The Magicians), and Laura Mennell (Alphas).
Production on Van Helsing season two is currently underway, with the show set to return this fall. The series is part of a Syfy drama slate that includes Z Nation, The Expanse, The Magicians, 12 Monkeys, Wynonna Earp, Channel Zero, Dark Matter, and Killjoys.
