Steven R. McQueen talks about his upcoming return to The Vampire Diaries. TV Out Of The Box Interview: The Vampire Diaries’ Steven R. McQueen Talks Jeremy’s Return

This interview is part of a series of interviews from the red carpet of Warner Bros.’ “Television Out Of The Box” exhibit at the Paley Center in Beverly Hills, CA. To read all of KSiteTV’s “Out Of The Box” coverage so far go here.

Aside from a brief scene in a recent episode, Steven R. McQueen‘s character Jeremy Gilbert has been absent from the series for the last few months, following a strong focus at the first half of the season. Jeremy’s absence will come to an end on this Thursday night’s episode of The Vampire Diaries where we will finally see Elena’s brother again.

We caught up with Mr. McQueen at the “Television Out Of The Box” premiere red carpet, and tried to get some scoop from him about the April 19 episode and beyond.

“There’s not that much I can say,” he concedes, surely due to the show’s attempt to curb spoilers whenever possible. “He kind of had a breather from all of the craziness in Denver, and then goes right back to it.”

Jeremy’s departure for Denver could have led to a “happy ending” for his character. Did McQueen think a happy ending was in the cards for Jeremy? “Sure. I mean, I think he’s always worried about his sister, so he’s always got that on his mind, but he is striving for happiness,” he explains.

As mentioned earlier, McQueen’s absence from the series was preceded by a substantial storyline at the top half of the season, where Jeremy was suddenly able to see and communicate with his dead ex-girlfriends. What was that like for him to do? “It was interesting,” he says. “They told me that I was going to have some sort of power, so I was like ‘All right!’ It turned out to be having some sort of connection with the dead. It was cool. It’s always great to see people have left the show, coming back.”

And now we look to Jeremy’s future. Only four episodes are left in Season 3, and beyond that… what would McQueen like to see from Jeremy in Season 4, assuming that he makes it that far? “I hope he’s got his crossbow on hand. Depending on what happens at the end of this season… we’ll see,” he teases.

Come back tomorrow for another “Television Out Of The Box” interview with a TV favorite! Look for a new episode of The Vampire Dairies featuring the return of Jeremy on Thursday, April 19, and if you’d like to revisit the past, earlier seasons of the show are  available on DVD and Instant Video.
