HBO has renewed acclaimed period drama The Deuce for a second season, which should premiere in the fall of 2018.

“We are thrilled to continue our creative collaboration with master storytellers David Simon and George Pelecanos,” said Casey Bloys, president HBO programming. “Their unique gift for immersing the audience in their dark and edgy worlds brings a brilliant verisimilitude unlike any other. With the remarkably talented Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Franco leading an exceptional cast, we look forward to delving deeper as this captivating story evolves.”

Telenovela alum Alex Meneses is set to recur on the upcoming fourth season of Jane the Virgin as Katherine, a possible investor in Rafael and Petra’s hotel.

Netflix has greenlit an untitled eight-episode comedy series executive produced by Amy Poehler that stars Natasha Lyonne as Nadia, the guest of honor at a seemingly inescapable party one night in New York City.

“Natasha’s humor, humanity and depth have connected with audiences around the world on Orange Is the New Black,” said Cindy Holland, VP Original Content for Netflix. “With this new series, she, Leslye and Amy are creating an ambitious and uniquely formatted comedy that will have viewers guessing as much as they will be laughing.”

Law & Order alum Sam Waterston will be guest starring on the upcoming season of Law & Order: SVU.

ABC has put into development an untitled comedy centering on a hard-bitten husband and empathetic wife who butt heads over the aftermath of providing sanctuary for their undocumented nanny and her family.

CBS has put into development Quality of Life, a comedy about a multi-generational family-run funeral home that stars Jamie Lee Curtis.

ABC has put into development Fertile, a comedy about a fertility doctor who opens up her own clinic in the Midwest.

FOX has put two new projects executive produced by Lee Daniels into development. Victory is set in the world of competitive gospel choirs and follows a ragtag group of young people trying to save their church, while East of Hope is a multi-racial soap set in an All-American working class town which centers around two families divided by a past event, and reconnected by blood. 

The Lockwood & Co novel series, which takes place in an alt-universe London haunted by ghouls only a select few can see the physical manifestation of, has been put into development by London’s Big Talk Productions.

FOX has put into development Faces, a one-hour drama centering on a British gangster who comes to Los Angeles with his family for the funeral of his eldest son. When he realizes that his son was murdered, his stay in America becomes indefinitely extended.

CBS has put into development I Mom So Hard, a comedy based on the web series #imomsohard that follows the friendship between two mothers.
