NBC has set a Thursday, July 19th premiere date for season two of true crime comedy Trial & Error, which will be subtitled Lady, Killer. As with season one, the series will air at 9:00 and 9:30.
From Matt Miller (Forever), season two of Trial & Error finds bright-eyed lawyer Josh (Nicholas D’Agosto) defending eccentric First Lady of East Peck Lavinia Peck-Foster (Kristin Chenoweth). Known for her flamboyant wardrobe, oversized hats, and hairless cat, Lavinia is accused of the bizarre murder of her late husband.
The first season of Trial & Error garnered positive reviews while averaging a 1.3 demo in L+7 numbers for its 9:00 episodes; its 9:30 installments, meanwhile, came in at a 1.1. That season followed Josh as he defended poetry professor Larry Henderson (John Lithgow), a man accused of murdering his wife.
In addition to D’Agosto and Chenoweth, Trial & Error stars Jayma Mays (Glee), Sherri Shepherd (Everybody Loves Raymond), Steven Boyer (Bridge of Spies), and Krysta Rodriguez (Smash). The series is part of a surprisingly stout scripted slate for NBC this summer that includes Reverie, the final season of Shades of Blue, Marlon, and Midnight, Texas.
