FOX medical drama The Resident has officially been picked up for a full second season, extending its current 13-episode order to 22.
“Amy Holden Jones, Todd Harthan and the amazing team behind The Resident have brilliantly offered viewers the ability to see the medical industry through a different lens,” said Michael Thorn, president of entertainment at Fox. “We can’t wait to watch the exceptional cast as they continue to roam the halls of Chastain Memorial Hospital.”
As with all midseason freshmen renewed for a second season and placed on the fall schedule, The Resident began this season with 13 episodes, but its extension was a mere formality given its solid, steady ratings and FOX needing a constant presence on Mondays with 9-1-1 set to air a split season.
