FOX has added medical drama The Resident to its series orders from earlier today. The series is the second new drama FOX has ordered this week, joining Marvel’s The Gifted, and third new series ordered today, joining comedies Ghosted and LA to Vegas. Deadline is reporting that there’s a possibility that FOX might be ordering new dramas as the other two dramas they have in development don’t have buzz and they’re waiting to see how off-cycle pilots The Beast and The Passage turn out. The network already has Seth MacFarlane dramedy Orville, which they picked up off-cycle.

From Amy Holden Jones (Black Box), The Resident tells the story of a brilliant senior resident who guides an idealistic young doctor through his first day and reveals what it’s really like to have someone’s life in your hands on a daily basis.

Executive produced by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day), The Resident stars Emily VanCamp (Revenge), Bruce Greenwood (The River), Matt Czuchry (The Good Wife), Manish Dayal (The Hundred-Foot Journey), and Shaunette Wilson (Black Panther).

FOX is set to release its 2017-18 schedule on Monday, May 15th. You can see what KSiteTV thought the network could do here.
