FOX has released the trailer for medical drama The Resident and in it, we see that the first day of school jitters don’t cease once you graduate from college.

From Amy Holden Jones (Black Box), The Resident follows Dr. Conrad Hawkins (Matt Czuchry), an unconventional albeit brilliant third-year resident at Chastain Memorial Parks Hospital who guides idealistic first-year Dr. Devon Pravesh (Manish Dayal) through his first day on the job. Dr. Hawkins intends to show Dr. Pravesh the good and bad that comes with being in the medical profession and how having the lives of others in your hands on a daily basis can impact someone psychologically.

In addition to Greenwood and Czuchry, The Resident stars Emily VanCamp (Revenge) as Nicolette Nevin, one of Chastain Memorial’s most respected nurses; Bruce Greenwood (The River) as Dr. Randolph Bell, the face of Chastain Memorial whose skills have noticeably been diminishing; and Shaunette Wilson (Black Panther) as Dr. Mina Okafor, a surgeon originally from Nigeria whose rise to prominence threatens Dr. Bell’s position at the hospital.

The Resident is set to air midseason on FOX. You can check out the network’s full fall 2017 schedule here.

Will you be watching? How do you think this show separates itself from the other medical dramas on television? Is this the type of show you think FOX should be making right now?
