Deadline is reporting that the fourth season of Syfy’s The Magicians has added Orange Is the New Black alum Jolene Purdy. She’ll be playing maenad Shoshana, an emotional creature who stands between party god Bacchus and an old buddy who desperately seeks him.
Season three of The Magicians concluded with Julia sacrificing her goddess magic in order to restore the 7 keys and help get the fountain of magic turned back on. However, before she and her friends have any time to celebrating the success of their quest, the Librarian and a traitorous Dean Fogg syphon up the magic, thereby putting The Library in control of its distribution. As punishment for what they did, the magicians are all stripped of their memories of magic and their past selves, while the body jumping creature from the castle is now inside Eliot.
In addition to her role on the Netflix dramedy, Purdy has appeared on the likes of The Resident, Under the Dome, and Benched. She’s the first announced addition to season four.
The fourth season of The Magicians is set to premiere in 2019. You can check out a behind the scenes featurette for the show that was released at Comic-Con below.
