Showtime has announced that its L Word sequel series The L Word: Generation Q has been renewed for a second season.
“The L Word: Generation Q took our original series that was revered and reinvigorated it for a new generation and a new era,” said Gary Levine, President of Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc. “The result has been a show that appeals to all generations for its relevance, its fearlessness, its emotion and its fun. I can’t wait to see what Marja, along with Ilene and this talented ensemble, will deliver for season two.”
Based on the groundbreaking 2004-2009 Showtime drama, with Marja-Lewis Ryan (6 Balloons) acting as showrunner, The L Word: Generation Q follows a group of (primarily lesbian) friends and co-workers through their personal and professional endeavors in Silver Lake, Los Angeles. Returning from the original series are Bette (Jennifer Beals), Alice (Leisha Hailey), and Shane (Katherine Moennig), while the series has added new characters played by Arienne Mandi (Matador), Leo Sheng (Adam), Jacqueline Toboni (Grimm), Rosanny Zayas (Orange is the New Black), and Sepideh Moafi (Falling Water).
The L Word: Generation Q airs Sundays at 10:00 on Showtime. Its season finale is set for January 26th.
