ABC has officially picked medical drama The Good Doctor up to series. It joins fellow new dramas The Crossing, The Gospel of Kevin, For the People, and Marvel’s Inhumans on the 2017-18 schedule.

From David Shore (House), The Good Doctor follows a young surgeon with Savant syndrome (Freddie Highmore) who gets recruited into the pediatric surgical unit of a prestigious hospital.

In addition to Highmore, The Good Doctor stars Antonia Thomas (Misfits), Nicholas Gonzalez (Sleepy Hollow), and Beau Garrett (Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce). The series is part of ABC’s plan to find a procedural and back away from its overly serialized, seriously dour drama slate that has yielded few legitimate hits in recent seasons.

ABC is set to unveil its 2017-18 schedule on Tuesday, May 16th. You can check out what KSiteTV thought the network could do here, as well as a teaser below.
