ABC has given a series order to legal thriller The Fix, it was confirmed today.
From Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain (666 Park Avenue), as well as famed prosecutor Marcia Clark, The Fix follows Maya Travis (Robin Tunney), a Los Angeles D.A. who suffers a devastating defeat in a high-profile murder trial. Her career and professional reputation in tatters, Maya moves to Oregon for a quiet, (theoretically) more fulfilling life, only to be lured back into the legal web when the same man she failed to convict is on trial for another murder.
In addition to Tunney, The Fix stars Merrin Dungey (Alias), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Oz), and Marc Blucas (Underground).
The Fix marks the second legal series on ABC following the renewal of For the People. Presumably, if it were to be successful and land a renewal, a second season would either focus on the main character trying a new case or a whole new storyline focused on the legal profession. What’s interesting is that ABC, ready to become a more procedural network, opted to order a serialized legal series instead of finding another procedural.
The series joins a string of recent series orders for ABC including A Million Little Things, Whiskey Cavalier, and Grand Hotel. The network will be unveiling its plans for the 2018-2019 season next week.
