Just two days ago we were saying that Heroes Season 5 is still a possibility, but now, the very reliable Josef Adalian at NYMag is saying that it’s done.
"As NBC has become more confident in its slate of new shows, all indications are that our Heroes are dead," Adalian says in his latest column which can be found here.
Apparently even Tim Kring has not been given this news. If Heroes is indeed over, a two- or four-hour movie wrapup can still be a possibility.
NBC will be announcing their Fall schedules on Sunday, May 16.

Rather than getting themselves scooped by online media before making their announcements to advertisers on Monday morning, NBC has announced that they will instead be revealing their Fall 2010 schedules on Sunday, May 16 at 5:15pm Eastern time, according to a reports by several online journalists such as HitFix’s Alan Sepinwall and TVByTheNumbers.com.
Of course, you can expect to read the updates as soon as they are available. We want to know as much as you want to know if Heroes and Chuck will return this Fall – and we also want to know if The Cape makes it to the schedule!

THR’s James Hibberd today posted an exclusive interview with NBC Entertainment President Angela Bromstad. In it, she talked about the prospects for NBC’s Fall 2010 schedule, and she had some very promising things to say about three series that have been talked about quite a lot here on KSiteTV.
On The Cape, Bromstad says that it looks fantastic. “We just saw it with special effects today. It’s close-ended and the hero catches the bad guy every week. Decisions are still outstanding, though, because we haven’t gotten back our testing yet,” she says. A pick-up for The Cape does not necessarily mean the end of Heroes, however. “With serialized shows like Parenthood and Heroes that don’t perform well in repeats we could be looking at shows sharing the same time slots (split between fall and spring). I wouldn’t count anything out. With shows like that we really have to sit down and figure out all the pieces of the schedule,” she says.
Fans of Chuck might finally be able to rest easy. “It’s our highest performing Monday night show,” Bromstad says. “We look at it as a very strong player and it’s a show that matches up with our new shows. It’s too early for me to say for certain as it’s a conversation we’re going to have next week.”
NBC will announce its Fall 2010 schedule in one week, on Monday, May 17. You can read the full interview with Angela Bromstad, where she talks about the rest of NBC’s possible plans, here.
UPDATE: Variety‘s Michael Schneider has weighed in on the above-mentioned shows in a new column He says Heroes “is expected to get a short 13-episode order to wrap things up — but given how disappointing that franchise has become, there’s likely not a lot of enthusiasm among execs at the net to go out of their way to give it a firm go before next week.” For Chuck, “a renewal seems to be a given.” The Cape is “on the hot list.”

Interview by Craig Byrne
David H. Lawrence XVII, known to the fans of Heroes as “Eric Doyle, the Puppet Master,” is also known to fandom for many other roles in addition to a large resume of voice work. In the movie Pizza Man, Lawrence plays Detective Moser, who is very much the “Commissioner Gordon” type to Frankie Muniz’s title hero.
Mr. Lawrence was kind enough to take the time to do an interview for this latest addition to KSiteTV’s Pizza Man coverage.
KSITETV: How did you get involved with Pizza Man and what attracted you to the role?
DAVID LAWRENCE: Foz [McDermott] called and said “do you want to be in this movie?” and I said “Anything for you, Foz.” Then when I got the script, I was enamored with Detective Moser’s intentions and lifestyle, and the idea of exploring him as a character was fascinating to me.
I love working with Foz. I worked with him on Heroes, and I trust him. I trust that he wouldn’t want me to be in it unless it was right up my alley or at least something fun to explore. So it was great. I didn’t come to this role the way most people come into roles where they audition and they get called back and there’s a big pow-wow. I did audition, if you’d call it an audition… I came in and met with Joe, the director, we went through the scene together, and then that was it.
KSITETV: Fans of Heroes remember you well as Eric Doyle, the Puppet Master…
LAWRENCE: Remember me? Like what, am I dead? Remember me?
KSITETV: Or they “know” you as Eric Doyle. This character of Moser seems do different from Doyle. Can you talk about playing such a very different role for these fans to discover you in?
LAWRENCE: The funny thing is, is that I never played anybody like Eric Doyle before, either. So Eric Doyle was really a different role for me. Up until then, it was mostly bouncers and cops and pedophiles. You know, goofy, autistic type older, strange characters. And Eric Doyle was the first chance I had to a) do network television, because it was my first booking on network television, and b) play such a creepy guy. The amount of time that I spent worrying that I was playing a creepy guy was about five seconds, because the writing was brilliant. The conflict the character wanting to be good but can’t help himself and be evil, was great fun to play, and so playing Detective Moser is sort of a return home for me. He’s got some twists as well. He actually turns out to like Matt, and starts to protect him, as opposed to suspecting him of being responsible for the crimes. So it’s fun, because I get to play him more like a father figure than just a grand inquisitor or a stupid cop that doesn’t have any smarts. So it’s a nice role. I love it.
KSITETV: He’s a little bit on the sarcastic side as well, isn’t he? I noticed that Marco [Mannone] wrote some great lines for Moser…
LAWRENCE: Not only did Marco write some nice stuff; he also said “hey, if you find anything that you want to throw in there that’s a little bit different, go ahead.” So far, Marco’s been dead on. I just love it. So yeah, he’s a little bit sarcastic; but most cops are, because they’re in that power differential between them and the perp or them and the public.
KSITETV: What is it like to be working with Frankie Muniz?
LAWRENCE: At this point in the production [when this interview was conducted], Frankie’s the only guy I’ve worked with at all, and it’s been completely in private other than when I walked into my office and there were some extras on set, that walked by me. He’s the only one I’ve been working with. He’s fun. He’s prepared. He doesn’t necessarily learn his lines before he does the scene; he just knows that once he’s on set, he’s going to have to bring the goods. And he always does. So that works for him. I use an iPhone app to learn my lines.
KSITETV: Can you talk about that iPhone app?
LAWRENCE: It’s called Rehearsal, and it’s free to download, and it’s free to use for a week, and then depending on what kind of load of auditions and production you have; you might choose one of three different payment plans. But it’s free to download, which means it has been downloaded over 100,000 times, and it’s only been out for a month.
I made it for myself, and the dirty little secret is, if I never sell any script, or month or year subscription, at least I have the tool to use it in my career, and that makes it priceless. I’ve used it for the last four episodes of Heroes that I was; I used it for all of the auditions that I’ve had between last November and today, in various forms, from the time that it was in beta, and the time that it was released, and we have an iPad version of it out.
The people that are in the business and “get it” and download it and use it, fall in love with it, and have all kinds of suggestions about what they’d love to see in it, and so on. It’s the kids around the world that have downloaded it because it was on the front page of the app site, because it was free, and then are like “This is stupid. I don’t like this. This is stupid.” And then delete it from the phone, and on the way off the phone, Apple says “hey, would you like to rate this?” They’re still in that “this is stupid” mode, and so they give it one star. It happens over and over and over, so if you look at our ratings on iTunes, you have this U-shaped ratings curve, where you have hundreds of five-star ratings, almost no two, three, and four star ratings, and then hundreds of one-star ratings. But for people that are in the business for rehearsing or for actually auditioning, it’s designed for auditioning as well. In fact, it came out of the fact that I had an audition that I had to be at very quickly, and I couldn’t go through my typical “go home, get the PDF file out of the e-mail with the script in it, record it, save it as an mp3, put it on iTunes and listen to it over and over until I learned the lines.” It was that I had exactly one hour, so I recorded it in voice memo on my iPhone on my way down the 101 to the audition. I’m like “There has to be a better way of doing this,” and that’s when the idea formed in my head, of how to make a tool that I could use. Then I started looking at how other actors work, and then I got a group of working actors together that were beta testers, and they really helped me out a great deal. It was an awesome process, and it’s turned out to be a very satisfying project, and hopefully one of these days, it will be something I can make my living doing as well as acting and voice work.
KSITETV: If Heroes returns for a fifth season, would you like to be a part of it?
LAWRENCE: I’d love to be a part of it. I have no idea if I will be. I would love to be a part of it, though. It’s a life changer. I was only supposed to be in one episode of the show, and it turned out that they liked what I was doing, and they rewrote the ending of that episode for me, and they kept me around for two seasons now. I think part of that is the writing is so good, and they keep giving Eric these dilemmas that he has to face. All he wants to do is entertain kids, be a Puppet Master, and so on, but then he’s pushed. And when he’s pushed… that’s when the magic happens.
KSITETV: There are many places that people can follow you online. Can you talk about that communication between yourself and those who’d like to interact with you?
LAWRENCE: I’ve always been able to be in touch with my radio audience via the nightly show. And then also e-mails and texting and voicemail and that sort of thing. Twitter and Facebook make it easy to say what’s going on. I’m one of those guys who is absolutely sure of one thing – and that is that nothing is permanent when it comes to the Internet. People don’t remember that Facebook at one time was more popular than LinkedIn or Myspace or Friendster, and then it went away, and Friendster was the new hot darling. And Myspace was the new hot darling, and all of a sudden Facebook comes roaring back. Twitter is an amazing story, and then you’ll notice things have kind of leveled off. Then come stories of how few people who sign up for Twitter actually use Twitter. And now they’re turning towards promoted tweets to start to raise money for the company. So everything is sort of a cycle. So whatever people might use, or the fans are using, that’s what I’ll use.
You can find David Lawrence at his official website at DavidS.com and on Twitter at @DHLawrenceXVII. Thanks to Mr. Lawrence for taking the time to do this interview, and you can read more about Pizza Man here soon!

A recent article by James Hibberd of The Hollywood Reporter, himself very respected within the TV community, included a tidbit about the futures of Heroes and Chuck that went unnoticed by many in the fan community for the last few days.
In his piece on Parenthood, he said this:
NBC still has a couple major titles on the bubble for renewal — namely “Chuck” and “Heroes” — but sources indicate both will probably return, with “Heroes” likely receiving a 13-episode “final season” order.
“It is all yet to be debated,” Bromstad said. “Both of those shows make sense with the new shows we’ll be bringing on.”
The “Bromstad” referred to is NBC primetime president Angela Bromstad.
This is not only interesting news for fans of Heroes and Chuck, but for those looking forward to the new pilots The Cape and Undercovers as well. Could one hero show lead into another? Could fun spies lead to sexy spies? (Then again, Sarah on Chuck is pretty darn sexy). We’ll know for sure when NBC announces their Fall schedules next month.

Interview by Craig Byrne
Today’s installment of “Pizza Man Week” at KSiteTV brings us to Noah Gray-Cabey and Leonard Roberts, who played the father-and-son duo of Micah and D.L. on NBC’s Heroes Season 1. Both actors appear together in what will surely make for one of the most memorable sequences in the film.
In these exclusive KSiteTV interviews, Gray-Cabey and Roberts talk about the reunion:
KSITETV: What was it that brought you to “Pizza Man?”
NOAH GRAY-CABEY: Foz [McDermott, an executive producer on the film whose previous credits include Heroes] asked if I wanted to just come in do a scene with Leonard, and I obviously said yes. I knew this was going to be so much fun. Foz is so much fun, and so is Leonard, so it’s nice being here.
KSITETV: How long has it been since you’d seen Leonard Roberts?
GRAY-CABEY: It’s been a while since I worked with Leonard. I’ve talked with Leonard, but I haven’t worked with Leonard in two years, so it’s been a while.
KSITETV: Have you kept in touch with your other Heroes castmates?
GRAY-CABEY: Not really, to tell you the truth. Leonard is the one that we’ve kept the most in contact with. It’s kind of nice to talk to him every once in a while. He’s a real awesome guy, and so much fun.
KSITETV: Is it true that your appearance in this movie features a reference to your time on Heroes?
GRAY-CABEY: I think there definitely will be a little bit of a nod.
KSITETV: If Heroes comes back for a fifth season, would you come back to the show if asked?
GRAY-CABEY: I’m up for anything. I’ve just got to go with the flow. I’m pretty laid back in that way, so if they want me to do an episode or something, sure.
KSITETV: What have you been up to since we last saw you on Heroes?
GRAY-CABEY: I just did an episode of CSI, which was really fun. I got to be a bad guy for once. But mainly I’ve been doing school, which has been my most trying part yet. We just did midterms, so I’m still dead inside a little bit from that.
KSITETV: Are you still doing music?
GRAY-CABEY: Yeah, I’m learning to play the guitar. I’m a little rusty on the piano, but I’m learning to play the guitar and writing more songs.
KSITETV: What was it like to return to Heroes in Season 3?
GRAY-CABEY: Since I’d been gone from Heroes for a while, it was very cool to come back to see everyone on set again. I think that was the most fun part. And it was kind of cool to just be part of this whole little secret thing all along. I hadn’t been working on the show, but it was still kind of fun to just be there secretly. But it was fun; it was really nice to see everyone again.
KSITETV: How did you become involved with the “Pizza Man” feature?
LEONARD ROBERTS: My buddy Foz and I kept in contact after Heroes, and we see each other every now and then. He gave me a call and told me all about it, and I thought it was funny, so I was like “Cool, I’m down.”
KSITETV: This movie is a bit of a reunion between yourself and Noah Gray-Cabey. Can you talk about that?
ROBERTS: I got to reunite with somebody very close to my heart. It was a nice little reunion. That was the main reason I wanted to come in; I wanted to come in and see my boy. We’re just kind of doing a tongue-in-cheek reunion, and it just sparked back up; the same energy that we had back in the day.
KSITETV: I hear the two of you have kept in touch over the years?
ROBERTS: We touch base. His birthday’s the day before mine, so I always give him a call to see what’s what, and to see how life is going for the kid genius.
KSITETV: Do you have anything to say to Heroes fans who miss seeing you as D.L.?
ROBERTS: I miss him too. I wish [D.L.] could have done more than just get shot. I had a lot more in me, but who knows. I don’t think it’s done, so I’ll never say never.
KSITETV: So you would come back to Heroes if you were asked?
ROBERTS: If they asked me verrry nicely. [laughs]
KSITETV: Would you consider a return to Smallville if you were approached?
ROBERTS: You know what, I would. Even though [as Nam-Ek] I got as close as I could to General Zod… I would have loved to have been General Zod.
Thanks to both actors for taking the time to do interviews. Come back tomorrow for another “Pizza Man” interview – which one, we’re not sure yet, it depends on transcription time, but it will surely be fun!

Malcolm In The Middle star Frankie Muniz is returning to acting for the first time in five years for a new movie currently being filmed with the title of “Pizza Man.”
The film is executive produced by Foz McDermott, known to many online fans of Heroes as “TheMightyFoz” on Twitter. McDermott was involved in many aspects of the show’s production, also producing for the BBC “Heroes Unmasked” series in addition to writing episodes of the Heroes “Slow Burn” tie-ins as well as writing for the online graphic novels.
“Pizza Man,” envisioned as a family-friendly feature that could be enjoyed by fans of the genre as well as their kids, also features former championship wrestler “Diamond” Dallas Page as the villain.
Why is this on KSiteTV, you ask, as this is primarily a television site? The answer is simple: The hope is to incorporate some folks from past superhero-related projects either in full roles or cameos. Most of the appearances are yet to be announced or officially confirmed, although we do know that David H. Lawrence XVII, aka Heroes’ Puppet Master, will be in the movie as a character who is very different from his Heroes role.
Writing the script will be Marco Mannone. whose previous credits include 2008′s Vampire Killers.
Directing the film is Joe Eckardt, who directed High Hopes starring Jason Mewes of Kevin Smith movie fame.
Stay tuned for more information about this project as it becomes available.
