Craig Byrne September 4, 2012 20

Our friends at the Supernatural Wiki were the first that we know of to bring attention to an official description for Supernatural Season 8 that showed up on The CW’s official Supernatural site today.

Want to know what it says? Read on, but beware of spoilers. Supernatural Season 8 begins October 3 on The CW. Come by our Supernatural forum!

The thrilling and terrifying journey of the Winchester Brothers continues with the eighth season of “Supernatural” on The CW.

Twenty-seven years ago, Sam Winchester (Jared Padalecki) and Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles) lost their mother to a mysterious and demonic supernatural force. Subsequently, their father John (Jeffrey Dean Morgan, “Watchmen”) raised them to be soldiers. He taught them about the paranormal evil that lives in the dark corners and on the back roads of America…and he taught them how to kill it.

Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) have spent the last seven years battling the things that go bump in the night. Over the years, with the help of both fallen-angel, Castiel (Misha Collins, “24″), and the King of Hell, Crowley (Mark A. Sheppard), the Winchesters have straddled the line between good and evil. Last season, the boys encountered their worst enemy yet, Leviathan, a highly adaptable, seemingly unkillable foe that takes the form of billionaire Dick Roman. Roman’s plan is to turn the human race into a walking buffet for the Leviathan to feed on once the world has been taken over. Roman discovers the existence of a tablet that is the only source on how to kill the Leviathan and stops at nothing to get it. The Winchesters, along with Castiel, also discover the tablet and the young prophet, Kevin Tran (Osric Chau), who is the only one who can decipher the text. Using the tablet, the boys are able to beat the Leviathan, but after the blast, Dean and Castiel find themselves in Purgatory and Sam finds himself alone.

Season Eight begins with Dean’s seemingly impossible escape from Purgatory, though Castiel is nowhere to be found.  However, Dean isn’t alone.  He’s returned with a mysterious comrade-in-arms whose reason for escape is perhaps more than Dean bargained for.  Meanwhile, Sam finds himself reconciling the life he discovered while Dean was gone with Dean’s sudden reappearance.  As the boys struggle with their unexpected reunion, they make a shocking discovery that could lead them on a deeply personal mission to settle old scores.  If only they could agree – is this a “family business” or isn’t it?.

From Warner Bros. Television in association with Wonderland Sound and Vision, with executive producers McG (“Charlie’s Angels,” “The O.C.”), Robert Singer (“Midnight Caller”), Jeremy Carver (“Being Human”), Phil Sgriccia and Adam Glass.

"Castiel is nowhere to be found" and Dean has a "new comrade-in-arms"? Those words are leading me to hate season eight, already! If they write out Castiel, replace him with the new vampire Benny, I'm not watching this show any longer!!

Relax Deborah. It's confirmed that Castiel is in at least 8 episodes of S8. Sheesh.

Wow. Sounds awesome. Eagerly awaiting Oct 3rd. I dont know why but I feel JC will be able to bring back some of the magic moments and brotherly dynamic that we saw in seasons 1-3. Keeping my fingers crossed.

This season is sounding very interesting, especially since finally, finally there is something about Dean. I'm getting more and more excited. I hope Carver delivers and gives Dean a strong storyline which hopefully will somehow tie in with the major arc. It would be about time Dean plays an important part, since he had one in season 4 and that was taken away from him in season 5.

So, really looking forward to this season, but what's with Sam having to reconcile having his brother back? I figuered he'd be happy, not feeling burdened by it. His brother is back from purgatory, not some vacation trip in the Bahamas.

Same here. What does it mean Sam has to reconcile with having his brother back? Poor choice of words is saying the least.

Sam is reconciling living a safe normal life with living the dangerous stressful life of a hunter. He loves his brother but both the Winchesters brothers have questioned why it is their responsibility to save the world. When Dean returns he has to talk Sam into returning to the road. That is all the article meant. As for Castiel, S.E.Hinton tweeted that Misha has moved to Canada to be closer to filming Supernatural so that should tell you something. Benny is an interesting and dangerous new character and according to on the set tweets "Dean is protective of Cas", so sounds to me like the show is not replacing anyone they are only adding new characters.

i agree with deborah it hasnt even started yet and im already not liking the sound this is the exact same feeling i had when season 6 started and i absolutely hated that season and 7 sucked ass too which leaves little to no hope for me liking season 8 its like the same sh*t just different season

I wish whoever wrote this description would know enough about Supernatural to know that they lost their mother 29 not 27

sorry, wrong button... ... years ago... would have been the end of the sentence. Anyways, I still love the show very much, can't wait to see the boys again :-)

Supernatural, although still interesting, has lost its touch with the ghost and monster hunting

here we go again! identical plot lines

Season 6: One year later, Sam returns from Hell
Season 8: One year later, Dean returns from purgatory.
Season 6: Dean has a normal life
Season 8: Sam has a normal life
Season 6: Sam returns with new comrades
Season 8: Dean returns with new comrades

Season 8 sounds disappointing and repetitive already

@redsoxman Despite the similarities in the general plotline ideas, there are many ways to go about making them happen. I'm sure Season 8 wil be as great as the rest of the seasons.

Am looking forward to Season 8 and am expecting great things from Mr. Carver in terms of storyline, as I am sure of fantastic things in the way of acting from the Supernatural family. One question though, what about Rachel Miner (Meg), will she return for season 8? I thought her storyline with Cas was interesting and would like to see it continue.

I can't wait for season 8 to begin, and as long misha/Castiel is in the show I'll gladly be watching it:) even though Cas is my favorite character I really loved the first three seasons so I'm putting my faith in season 8;)

Honestly everyone who are posting hate comments should stop complaining and just stop watching the ahow because it has never dissapointed me.

I don't care WHAT this season offers, as long as it's more entertaining than season 7, has a coherent season arc, and brings back as much of the feel from seasons 1-5 as possible.

I am of the rare breed that really really really loved Season 6 (especially paired with season 5; they are great together), despite them changing several known facts established in earlier seasons.

Damnit, just make it more entertaining than 7 and I don't care what you do...

I love all of the seasons of Supernatural and the episodes that are outside of the ghost and monster hunting gives the seasons dept. If they constanly hunting the monsters and ghost then it would be one sided.

I have being watching this show since it first came on the air through season 1' all the way to season 5' was great action every other week, till it all went down hill on season 7' I mean not only was it boring all through, but they cheated us on a few months of the show back on-yet thinking about it I guess they did us all a favor cause seven was a very bad season.now coming into season 8' and already disappointed I thought we were going to see more of Misha Cllins as Cas' and finding out he is getting less story-line & not much face shots is not fair he is a great character to this whole story line of the supernatural an angel even though he is a fallen one for now, but we know that he will rise up again as one of the good guys. this whole Castiel is nowhere to be found and Dean having a new comrade-in-arms? don't really make sense!! "ANOTHER MESSED UP SEASON"

I really like this show but they are getting very repetitive. I understand that they're creating depth between the characters but it's almost like every season they have to have a reason for the brothers to be argumentative toward each other.

And I understand that they have to fit in a season wide arc plot within the episodes, but I feel like the monsters are getting stale and over used. Kripke had a variety of monsters during the first 5 seasons. The last 3 have been a lot of the same, Vampires, Demons and Ghosts. There's only so many times a person cares to see the same salt and burn plot.
