Supernatural was renewed for a 13th season this morning, meaning that Sam and Dean Winchester will be saving people and hunting things for a while longer.
Like clockwork, the bi-annual “How long will Supernatural go?” question came up again today at the Executive Session of The CW’s day in the Television Critics Association Press Tour. Receiving the question was, of course, CW President Mark Pedowitz.
“Look, I said this ad infinitum. I’m sure you can quote me. As long as it’s performing and the boys want to do it and I’m sitting in this chair, this show has a long life,” he said, joking that he’s hoping for a bar mitzvah to celebrate the 13th year.
It has been implied that series stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki want the show to go on for 300 episodes; our recent visit to the show’s set made it sound like that might not necessarily even be the end.
Supernatural returns with new episodes on Thursday, January 26 in the show’s new time slot of 8PM ET/PT. Photos from that first episode of 2017, titled “First Blood,” can be found here. Carry on, wayward sons!
