The roles of Eclipso and The Shade have now been cast for DC's Stargirl Season 2. Stargirl Casts Season 2 Villains, Including An Arrow Veteran & The Shade

Deadline today revealed some of the casting for the upcoming second season of the now-CW exclusive series DC’s Stargirl. While we knew that characters like Eclipso and The Shade were on the way for Season 2, now we know who will be playing them!

First off, Nick Tarabay has been tapped in the series regular role of Eclipso — interesting, as he was “Captain B0omerang” in the first Arrow/Flash crossover many years ago. Here’s how the character is described:

Eclipso is a life essence trapped inside a blue diamond. Once owned by the Injustice Society of America, that diamond was stolen in Season 1 by DeLacy’s Cindy, which will result in problems for the JSA going forward. Eclipso is an ancient entity of corruption and vengeance. Brimming with a cold, terrifying darkness, he exploits the flaws of others, reveling in the impure and sinful, sadistically feeding off the dark side of humanity.

In the Eclipso comic books, the character killed at least two characters who are very much loved by the Stargirl TV audience, so let’s hope history doesn’t repeat itself.

Jonathan Cake will be playing The Shade from the legendary James Robinson run of Starman. Here’s how Deadline describes that one:

The Shade, an English immortal, is a classic antihero from DC Comics who wields magical shadow powers, The Shade is an English immortal. Tall and slim with an elegant 19th Century way to his speech and manners, he masks the horrors he’s experienced and people he’s lost in all the time alive with wry, witty retorts and a false sense that nothing really matters.

Finally, Ysa Penerejo will be playing an as-yet-undisclosed character in Stargirl Season 2.

DC’s Stargirl Season 2 will premiere in 2021 on The CW. Follow @StargirlTV on Twitter for more show updates as they come in!
