The Season 3B premiere of Freeform’s Shadowhunters ended with the revelation that Clary (Katherine McNamara) and Jonathan (Luke Baines) have been connected to each other in a new and dangerous way courtesy of Lilith (Anna Hopkins). Tonight’s installment “Original Sin” — airing at 8PM ET/PT March 4 on Freeform — will explore more of that, but also, we recently spoke to Executive Producer Todd Slavkin about this bond.

“You guys saw in the trailer, when her eyes opened and you saw those blackened eyes,” Slavkin explained. “This begins this journey for Clary that makes her closer and closer to Jonathan. This mark that Lilith drew on both of them bonds them together ever so close, because she knows that that will make Jonathan happy, and that’s truly what her son wants. That will give him this life force that will enable him to survive.”

“Lilith doesn’t expect it to get as complicated as it does, and we will be seeing Anna Hopkins again,” he revealed. “She’s just a phenom, and she’s got her own feelings about Clary, but Clary will never be more of a Morgenstern than she is in Season 3B.”
