CTV Orders Saving Hope With Erica Durance, Daniel Gillies, & Michael Shanks

Canadian broadcaster CTV is bringing Lois Lane, Hawkman, and Elijah back to television.

The news was confirmed today by Broadcaster Magazine.

Saving Hope is a one hour drama, and CTV has ordered 12 more episodes to add to the pilot that was shot earlier this year. Both Erica Durance (Smallville), Daniel Gillies (The Vampire Diaries) and Michael Shanks (Stargate) are in the show’s cast.

Creative talents behind the show include Ilana Frank and David Wellington (The Eleventh Hour, Of Murder and Memory, Rookie Blue).

In the series, Shanks’ character, Chief of Surgery Charlie Harris ends up in a coma, leaving the hospital in chaos and his fiancee and fellow surgeon, Alex Reid (Erica Durance), in a state of shock. Alex works with the newly-arrived star surgeon Joel Goran (Daniel Gillies) to save Harris’ life. As the story unfolds, Dr. Harris remains in a coma, but he wanders the halls of Hope-Zion Hospital in “spirit” form, unsure if he’s a ghost of a figment of his own imagination.

“Tapping into the frenetic lives of medical professionals entrusted to make life and death decisions every single day, Saving Hope is a sexy, heart-pumping hospital drama with captivating storylines,” Phil King, President, CTV Programming and Sports, said about the show. “We look forward to working with the talented actors and creative team behind this compelling new series.”

No word yet about when or if this will show up in the United States. Considering Rookie Blue and Flashpoint are brought over here, don’t be surprised if this shows up as a summer series on one of the big networks.

    Congratulations Erica Durance!

Crossing fingers that Saving Hope will be picked up by a major network, which will ensure possible interviews and hopefully translate to guesting in that network's other shows to promote Saving Hope!!
