After months of speculation, Warner Bros. Television and The CW have finally confirmed that a new TV series based around Sabrina the Teenage Witch is being developed for The CW as a possible Riverdale companion.

The project being developed is The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and that shares a title with a current Archie Comics title featuring the character. It’s described as “a dark drama in the horror genre” and it is coming from Riverdale Executive Producers Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Jon Goldwater. Lee Toland Krieger, who helmed the Riverdale pilot, is on board as an Executive Producer and Director.

Here’s the official logline:

THE CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA reimagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft. Tonally in the vein of Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist, this adaptation finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature — half-witch, half-mortal — while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit.

No casting has been announced yet though Disney star Dove Cameron has been a fan favorite for the role.
