Netflix has set a Friday, October 26th premiere date for supernatural drama Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
Based on the comic series of the same name by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who developed the show for television, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina follows half-human, half-witch Sabrina Spellman (Kiernan Shipka) as she reconciles her dual nature while fighting the evil forces that threaten her, her family, and the daylight world humans inhabit.
In addition to Shipka, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina stars Jaz Sinclair (Paper Towns) as Sabrina’s best friend Rosalind, the outspoken and empowered daughter of the town’s mayor; Michelle Gomez (Green Wing) as Sabrina’s favorite teacher Mary Wardell, who becomes possessed by the devil’s handmaiden; Chance Perdomo (Killed by My Debt) as Ambrose Spellman, Sabrina’s pansexual English warlock cousin; Lucy Davis (The Office) as Sabrina’s motherly and warm Aunt Hilda; Miranda Otto (Homeland) as Sabrina’s stern Aunt Zelda, who is a member of the Church of Night, devout to the Dark Lord; Richard Doyle (A.D. The Bible Continues) as Father Blackwood: The High Priest of the Church of Night and Dean of the Academy of the Unseen Arts; and Ross Lynch (Austin & Ally) as Sabrina’s dreamy boyfriend Harvey Kinkle, unaware of the dark forces conspiring to keep him and Sabrina apart.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is part of a fall slate for Netflix that includes Maniac and The Good Cop. This will be the second television series to center around the character of Sabrina Spellman, the other being the ABC/WB sitcom that starred Melissa Joan Hart, while it’s also the second recent series to adapt characters from an Archie Comics series in a darker light. Aguirre-Sacasa’s Riverdale will be going into a third season this fall.
