A popular star for decades who first made his big break on 90210 and worked consistently since, starring in series like Jeremiah and most recently Riverdale, actor Luke Perry has passed away.
“Actor Luke Perry, 52, passed away today after suffering a massive stroke,” said a statement that was posted by Entertainment Tonight. “He was surrounded by his children Jack and Sophie, fiancé Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder, and other close family and friends. The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning. No further details will be released at this time.”
While his character as Fred Andrews on Riverdale was possibly not seen as often as we would have liked, he was always a welcoming and kind force when we’d visit the set. It was also obvious that the other cast adored him, especially KJ Apa who played his son, Archie. You can see an example of their off-screen banter in a video from Wondercon two years ago:
Our hearts and sympathy are extended to all who worked with him, loved him, and were fans of his work.
