The CW has released this official description for their new series Ringer starring Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Check it out:
Bridget Kelly (Sarah Michelle Gellar, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) is a recovering addict, struggling to turn her life around. She’s six months sober, and beginning to get back on track, when she witnesses a professional hit. She’s placed in federal protection under the watch of Victor Machado (Nestor Carbonell, “Lost”), an agent determined to see that justice is done. But Bridget knows that Victor can’t keep her safe and she flees, telling no one, not even her close friend and Narcotics Anonymous sponsor Malcolm Ward (Mike Colter, “The Good Wife”). Hoping to buy some time, Bridget contacts her identical twin sister Siobhan Martin (also played by Gellar), and joins her in New York City, reuniting with her for the first time in six years. Siobhan is fabulously wealthy, with a strikingly handsome husband, Andrew (Ioan Gruffudd, “The Fantastic Four”) – who has no idea that Bridget exists. When Siobhan suddenly disappears, seemingly taking her own life, Bridget makes the split decision to take on her sister’s identity.
Bridget immediately discovers that Siobhan has been living a life of incredible luxury, one that seems like a fantasy – but nothing and no one is what they appear to be. Andrew and Siobhan’s seemingly picture-perfect relationship is icy and irreparably damaged. Even Andrew’s troubled teenage daughter, Juliet (Zoey Deutsch, “The Suite Life on Deck”), resents her stepmother, and blames her for the strained relationship she has with her father.
Bridget is plunged into a glamorous world unlike anything she’s ever known, and as she tries to maintain her façade as Siobhan, she finds her twin has been hiding her own dangerous secrets. Bridget meets Siobhan’s best friend, Gemma Butler (Tara Summers, “Boston Legal”), a successful architect and interior designer – only to be horrified when she discovers Siobhan has been having a long-time affair with Gemma’s husband, Henry (Kristoffer Polaha, “Life Unexpected”). Henry is in love with Siobhan, and is hurt and confused by her sudden personality change.
Although Bridget has gone to extraordinary lengths to leave her past behind, Agent Machado is not giving up the chase. She is the key witness to his murder investigation, and he is determined to find her. But when an attempt is made on her life, Bridget discovers that living as Siobhan is no less dangerous than the old life she is trying to escape.
Bridget must now try to unravel the mystery of who is trying to murder Siobhan, and why. She must constantly be on guard to keep her true identity hidden, and soon begins to realize that the secrets run even deeper than she imagined. Siobhan is alive – and she has her own plans in motion for Bridget and her former life. Like her sister, Siobhan has also left her life behind, but she doesn’t just want a second chance…she wants revenge.
