Showtime has announced that fixer drama Ray Donovan has been renewed for a 12-episode sixth season, which will find the narrative (and production) shifting from Los Angeles to New York City.
”Ray Donovan broke new ground this season with its deeply emotional and innovative approach to Abby’s passing, without sacrificing any of the intensity that has been its trademark,” Gary Levine, President of Programming, Showtime Networks. “We so appreciate that David Hollander is never satisfied with the status quo, and his creative plan for moving the show to New York reflects his relentless ambition for this series.”
Averaging nearly 5 million weekly viewers across all platforms, Ray Donovan tell the story of Hollywood fixer Ray Donovan (Liev Schreiber) as he struggles to balance a job where he works with the biggest and brightest stars in Hollywood with a home life that puts him in uncomfortable emotional positions. Season five has focused on Ray’s wife Abby losing her battle with cancer and Ray’s relationship with daughter Bridget becoming increasingly fractured.
The Ray Donovan renewal fills out a drama slate for Showtime that includes Shameless, Homeland, Billions, and The Affair, with the likes of The Chi and Guantanamo still to come.
The fifth season finale of Ray Donovan is set to air this Sunday at 9:00 on Showtime. You can check out a preview below.
