OWN has released a second trailer for the upcoming second season of acclaimed drama Queen Sugar and in it, we see that sometimes the path to self-fulfillment is longer than we might like.
Season two of Queen Sugar finds the Bordelon siblings all trying to make better lives for themselves despite the obstacles that threaten to derail their progress. Charley breaks the glass ceiling in terms of being a black woman who owns her own mill, though she still might have to rely on Davis to push past the misogyny that permeates through the Louisiana sugarcane industry; meanwhile, Ralph Angel weighs what the contents of Ernest’s letter could mean for not only his burgeoning family with Darla but his relationships with Charley and Nova. For her part, Nova struggles with the role that activism plays in her life and whether she might have to scale back her involvement in the community for a shot at personal happiness.
Joining the second season of Queen Sugar are Sharon Lawrence (NYPD Blue) as Charley’s sophisticated, self-motivated mother Lorna; Alimi Ballard (The Catch) as epidemiologist Dr. Robert DuBois, who makes a lasting impression on Nova; and Margot Bingham (Boardwalk Empire) as confident pop star Tamar Judith.
The second season of Queen Sugar is set to premiere Tuesday, June 20th at 10:00 and Wednesday, June 21st at 10:00 before settling into its time slot the following Wednesday. You can check out the first trailer here, as well as what KSiteTV thought about the first season here.
