Deadline is reporting that NBC romantic comedy Someone Out There has found its leads in Veronica Mars alum Ryan Hansen and Young & Hungry‘s Aimee Carrero.
Based on the Spanish format Pequeñas Coincidencias, with Matt Hubbard (30 Rock) adapting for American television, Someone Out There centers on two set-in-their-ways adults who are challenged by very unexpected strangers to become the best versions of themselves in order to find love and possibly each other.
Hansen plays film composer Derek, a man who thinks he has it all. Carrero portrays no-nonsense bridal boutique owner Chloe.
Someone Out There is one of six comedy pilots NBC has in contention for 2020-21, joining multi-cam Jefferies, a series from Legit creator Jim Jefferies that co-stars Betsy Brandt and Anthony LaPaglia; a series adaptation of Tiffany Haddish film Night School starring Shanola Hampton, Ian Gomez, and Collette Wolfe; automotive industry workplace vehicle American Auto; Crazy For You, about a woman freshly out of a long-term relationship who realizes that dating has changed since she was last single; and an untitled series from Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s Dan Goor and Phil Jackson that centers on Black people, dating, and wine. The network already has series orders for Dwayne Johnson origin story Young Rock, Kenan Thompson vehicle The Kenan Show, and an untitled series from Tina Fey that stars Ted Danson as a man who unexpectedly becomes mayor of Los Angeles.
In addition to his role on the UPN/CW/Hulu detective drama, Hansen’s television credits include Party Down, Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television, and 2 Broke Girls, while Carrero has appeared on the likes of The Village, Blindspot, and The Americans.
