According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC comedy pilot Friends-in-Law has added four series regulars.
From Brian Gallivan (The McCarthys) and rolled into this development season after first being in development in 2018, Friends-in-Law follows Brian (Michael Urie) and Jake (Zach Cregger), two polar opposites who have to figure out how to co-exist when their respective best friends try to get married. The two team up to try and disrupt the impending union between Brian’s best friend Margaret (Vella Lovell) and Jake’s best friend Randy (Gil Ozeri) in hopes of never having to see one another again.
Urie’s television credits include Ugly Betty, Younger, and The Good Fight; Cregger had been a series regular on TBS’s Wrecked while previously appearing on About a Boy, Guys with Kids, and The Whitest Kids U’Know; Lovell is coming off a four-season stint on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend; and Ozeri has been seen on Girls, NTSF:SD:SUV::, and Powerless.
Friends-in-Law is part of a comedy pilot slate for NBC that includes The Kenan Show, which stars Saturday Night Live‘s Kenan Thompson as a widower who bonds with his father-in-law; Like Magic, centering on a young woman trying to become a headlining magician; musical comedy Perfect Harmony; immigration-centric Sunnyside, starring Kal Penn; Uninsured, about a young couple who have to take one set of in-laws in; and workplace comedy Village Gazette.
