Deadline is reporting that The CW’s political drama pilot Maverick will star The Flash‘s Reina Hardesty.
From Merigan Mulhern (Jane the Virgin), Maverick follows Kit, the daughter of an authoritarian American president who believes her father to be a moral, decent man. However, once she gets outside of the White House bubble, her views are challenged by her peers at Georgetown University, so much so that she begins questioning her loyalty to her family. Will she stay true to her father despite what everyone says or will she join the growing resistance that threatens to take him down?
Hardesty will play intelligent and inquisitive Kit, a privileged young woman who wants to believe the best about everybody, including her father. The series has also added The Fosters alum Nandy Martin as Kit’s smart, tough college roommate Vanessa and Zainne Saleh (The Night Shift) as fearless hacker Cara, a Georgetown sophomore ready to do what she can to help communities marginalized by the current regime.
Maverick is one of four traditional pilots in development at The CW, joining CBS castoff The Republic of Sarah, martial arts saga Kung Fu, and their third attempt at The Lost Boys. The network already gave straight-to-series orders to Superman & Lois and Walker and has backdoor pilots that would spinoff Arrow and The 100 if ordered.
In addition to her role on the CW superhero drama, Hardesty’s television credits include StartUp, Greenhouse Academy, and Brockmire.
