ABC has officially ordered sibling drama pilot Heart of Life, it was announced Thursday.

Based on the John Mayer song of the same name, with Ben Queen (A to Z) scripting, Heart of Life follows two wildly different sets of adult siblings who are forced to reconcile everything they thought they knew about their shared father after they discover they’re related. The series chronicles the siblings as they investigate their mysterious childhoods and adjust to their family being just a bit bigger than they originally thought.

Heart of Life brings ABC’s drama pilot slate up to eight, joining new takes on NYPD Blue and New York Undercover; romantic dramedy The Baker and the Beauty; thriller The Hypnotist’s Love Story, which stars Heather Graham; edgy P.I. drama Stumptown; Bermuda Triangle-set Triangle; and marital drama Until the Wedding. The network is expected to order more drama pilots in the coming weeks.

This isn’t the first time that a song has explicitly inspired a television project. Dolly Parton has had a successful run of TV movies based on her own material and will executive produce an episodic anthology for Netflix where every episode is centered around one of her own songs.

You can listen to Mayer’s song, found on Grammy-winning album Continuum, below.
