Deadline is reporting that Awake star Jason Isaacs has joined CBS medical drama pilot Good Sam.
From Katie Wech (Rizzoli & Isles), Good Sam follows talented surgeon Sam (Sophia Bush), who’s finally allowed to flourish in a leadership role when her renowned but pompous boss falls into a coma. When this man who never acknowledged her gift awakens and wants to get back to work, though, it’s up to her to supervise him.
Isaacs plays Dr. Paul “Griff” Griffith, the arrogant Chief of Cardiothoracic surgery whose brilliance is unrivaled. He’s known to be tough on his residents but none gets it worse than his daughter Sam, who is the key to him resuming surgery after waking up from his coma.
Good Sam is one of several dramas in contention for a CBS series order, joining Silence of the Lambs sequel Clarice, which has a series commitment but will still shoot a pilot; a reboot of The Equalizer, this time starring Queen Latifah; The Lincoln Lawyer, based on the novel series of the same name; cop drama Out the Door; and political drama Ways & Means, centering on two congressional figures who reach across the aisle in a bid to help subvert legislative gridlock.
In addition to his role on the acclaimed NBC drama, Isaacs has appeared on the likes of The OA, Star Trek: Discovery, and Dig.
