Deadline is reporting that I Feel Bad star Sarayu Blue has joined CBS medical drama pilot Under the Bridge. She’s set as opinionated, relentlessly passionate OB Ameni, who causes a rift with her best friend Cait as a result of politics at the hospital.
From Rina Mimoun (Mistresses), Under the Bridge follows surgeon Caitlin Lanchaster (Jennifer Morrison) as she deals with a scandal that rocks the private practice she shares with her husband and best friends. If ordered, the series would follow Caitlin as she attempted to mend the fractures in the practice and regain footing in her marriage.
Under the Bridge is technically in second position to Blue’s role on the NBC comedy, but where that show lagged in the ratings and with critics to the point of not earning a back order, the chance of it being renewed is minuscule at best. Blue is the second actor attached to a current broadcast newbie that has taken a pilot, the other being Proven Innocent star Russell Hornsby who has a role in NBC’s Bone Collector series adaptation Lincoln.
In addition to her role on the NBC comedy, Blue’s television credits include No Tomorrow, Wisdom of the Crowd, and The Real O’Neals. She joins a cast that also includes Nightflyers alum David Ajala.
Under the Bridge is part of a drama pilot slate for CBS that includes X-Files-esque Evil; legal drama Courthouse; NSA drama Surveillance; backdoor FBI spinoff FBI: Most Wanted; Tommy, a cop drama starring Edie Falco; a procedural-ized Frankenstein; and The Republic of Sarah, about a small New Hampshire town looking to become an independent nation.
