TV Line is reporting that Silicon Valley star Thomas Middleditch has signed on to CBS multi-cam pilot B Positive.
From Marco Pennette (Ugly Betty), with Chuck Lorre executive producing, B Positive centers on newly divorced dad Drew as he’s faced with the race against time to find a kidney donor. Feeling increasingly hopeless, he runs into rough-around-the-edges Gina (Annaleigh Ashford), a woman from his past who volunteers their own. If ordered, the series would follow Drew and Gina as they form an unlikely bond that will change their lives.
Middleditch will play bookish therapist Drew, a man lacking social skills who doesn’t consider himself a people person.
B Positive is one of several comedies in development at CBS for 2020-21, joining Ghosts, based on the British series of the same name; Jury Duty, which follows the same jury across one trial; foster kid multi-cam Please Hold for Frankie Wolfe; sibling series The Three of Us; The United States of Al, centering on the friendship between a Marine and his interpreter; and an untitled mother/daughter comedy from Corinne Kingsbury.
In addition to his role on the HBO comedy, Middleditch’s television credits include Dream Corp LLC, You’re the Worst, and Drunk History. He joins a cast that also includes Kether Donohue and Sara Rue.
