Starz has announced that acclaimed drama Outlander has been renewed for seasons 5 & 6, both of which will feature 12 episodes. These are the show’s lowest seasonal episode totals to date after coming off seasons featuring 16, 13, and 13 episodes, respectively.
“Fans can rest assured their beloved Claire and Jamie will be back facing new challenges, adversaries and adventures in seasons five and six as we delve into American history and continue the story of the Frasers as they settle in the New World,” said Starz President and CEO Chris Albrecht.
The fourth season of Outlander, which has earned star Caitriona Balfe multiple Golden Globe nominations, will draw from 1996 novel Drums of Autumn, the fourth book in the series from Diana Gabaldon.
Outlander leads a scripted slate for Starz that includes Counterpart, Vida, Sweetbitter, American Gods, The Girlfriend Experience, and Power. The network has Gregg Araki comedy Now Apocalypse and The Rook, a spy thriller from Twilight author Stephanie Meyer, still to debut.
Season four of Outlander is set to premiere November 2018 on Starz.
