It’s day two of the KSiteTV Countdown to Upfronts and that means it’s time to take a look at what FOX could do next season. 2014-2015 has been rough for the fourth-place network, though with new additions Empire, Gotham, and The Last Man on Earth, they’re going into next season with the cupboards not entirely bare. But will they be able to take advantage of what momentum they did gain this season?
For the third year in a row, pontificating the possibilities of next fall’s scheduling are KSiteTV Editor-in-Chief Craig Byrne and ScreenFad Contributing Editor/KSiteTV Staff Writer Shilo Adams. This season, we decided to push our prediction articles forward a week, but as with every year, take this series of articles for what it is – the rantings and ravings of two lunatics two devoted television fans and followers of the television media. Neither of us has any insider information, aside from what’s been made publicly available through various upfront previews, guiding these articles, nor do we have anything against any of the shows that are either left off our predictive schedules or talked about disparagingly in any regard. It’s all fun here, folks.

SHILO: Although I think carrying The Last Man on Earth over into fall would be a better decision, I can’t see FOX leaving Bordertown on the shelf for more than two years. Originally ordered in November 2013, the Seth MacFarlane animated comedy seemed to be poised for a fall 2014 birth before being pushed out of the 2014-2015 season for reasons that I’m still not sure about. But with MacFarlane and multiple voice actors from other FOX animated series (Hank Azaria, Alex Borstein) involved, as well as a subject and sense of humor that seems prime for a Family Guy lead-in, Bordertown will be the one to jut another show off the schedule this time, as The Last Man on Earth will likely head to midseason. Really, the only way Bordertown isn’t after Family Guy in the fall is if it turned out to be especially awful and FOX would rather burn it off (Fridays, Sundays at 7:30) vs. giving it a shot at success.
CRAIG: I’m usually a believer in keeping something around before people forget about it, and we know FOX likes being in the Lord & Miller business, so I’m keeping the Sunday schedule pretty much as is. I’m tempted to move Family Guy to 8:30 and have the 9:00 hour just be a live-action comedy hour, but I’m not sure that it’s time for that just yet.
